Helping Shine a Light on Drink Spiking
We’re currently in California with our latest awareness campaign focused on helping tackle drink spiking — an issue lawmakers have described as an “under-reported epidemic.” Through this campaign, we aim to encourage conversations, raise awareness, and help people stay informed about the risks surrounding drink and food spiking.
Across California, our campaign posters are appearing in public spaces to help bring visibility to this important issue and encourage people to look out for one another.
The Scale of Concern
Recent reports and exploratory studies highlight the growing concern surrounding drink spiking:
- Up to 50% of people surveyed in a small exploratory study reported experiencing drink or food spiking at least once.¹
- Around 1 in 13 college students say they have been drugged or suspect they were.²
- California lawmakers have recently pushed for stronger awareness and prevention measures to address the issue.³
While statistics vary between studies, the message is clear: awareness and education remain essential.
